Geometry Odd Shape-Not Visible Until Render

Fairly new user here:
1) The reference photo shows invisible lines. One the file, you can see that it doesn't exist. Also, some object will not take shaders.
2)After rendering (Renderman), the image/s are very dark. It doesn't look like this when I render within Maya. Is there a setting that I should be aware of?sample.pnghttps://episode11productions.com/wp-content/sample.mb

1) messy edges on that face-with-hole. look for polyRemesh and polyRetopo;

2) as to renders, you need more light, like domeLight. can't look into your file at the moment

Hi!

 

All your triangles are individual faces. Just select one face and move it and you can see they are not connected to each other. Use Edit Mesh -> Merge to correct this.

I didn't see that in the file. I think I need a new graphics card. When I switched to a different shader and then back again, it went away.

As Mspeer said. First step is. Select each individual objects vertices and then merged them with a value of 0.0001. In that way all the over lapping tris gets merged.

Next run Remesh command from Mesh menu. Play with the widget lower the value better triangulated geometry. I had real high resolution.

Next run Retopo and give a good amount of poly count. You have to play with the number, what makes good Look.

Note: Retopo will look like it stopped. YOU HAVE TO OPEN YOUR OUTOUT WINDOW to see the progress. It takes some time.

Note:: your most trouble areas are the boolean texts.

DOwnload the Maya file. You can copy the one side to others. Look at the poly counts.
