Fatal Crash error when using insert edge loop tool

I get a fatal crash error in my project every time I use the insert edge loop tool. I set the tool on multiple edge loops and it crashes every time I use more than 5 edge loops on my model. I googled and looked in this forum. I tried multiple things like putting a text in the Maya.env file or resetting my prefererences but i couldn't fix the problem.

Do you have any suggestion how I can fix this? Im working on a Macbook Pro with 16 gb Ram.

Before going nuts let's see if it is the geometry what is wrong, not Maya. Please export the current object to OBJ, take it back to the scene and try to edge loop it normally. Maybe this works. If it does not work we already know that is not the object itself.
