Edges cannot be selected in "Insert Edge Loop" or "Multicut Tool" in Maya.

I'm a Maya beginner who recently started learning tutorials. After selecting the multi-cut tool, if I move the cursor to the part on the edge line where I want to increase the number of edges, some edges will be displayed like an image and I will not be able to select the edges. When using "Insert Edge Loop", when I try to insert an edge connected to all the faces that are connected (as usual), the edge I want to insert is interrupted at the above-mentioned "some unselectable edges". I will end up.

make sure you don´t have multiple or border edges there.

When I selected a point and moved it, the vertices seemed to split ...!
It seems that there were multiple ones with two vertices at exactly the same coordinates. So the polysurface was completely crushed and turned into a surface. Before I knew it ...
The reason why the loop cut could not be done was that the edges that could not be selected were actually overlapped and the face between those edges was inverted. I was in trouble without noticing it for a long time, but thanks to you, I solved it. Thank you!
