Detach a vertex or edge of a cube

Hi guys,

maybe it is a stupid question.

How to detach a vertex or a edge of a cube. The "Edit Mesh > Detach" seems not working.

Actually, I would like to duplicate an edge, and thus to "open" one side of a cube, like a door does.

Regards

Select the face u want Edit Mesh>Extract

To separate vertices is what you did before Edit Mesh>Detach.

OK, but if I select one vertex, and do Detach I expect to have two vertices superimposed (that I don't know how to select separately, anyway). How to check this?

The vertices are sitting on top of each other, you can select an edge and move slightly to see the other vertices underneath, you can also hover over it and try to grab one at at time to be moved aside...very gently.

Also if you have Heads up Display >Poly count it will show you the number of vertices after that operation, so in a cube corner it will display 3 vertices created.

OK done. My problem was - i think - that soft selected was enabled. Thanks!
