Cube polygons coming in wrong

Hello! I am new to this software and have bought it to familiarize myself with it. I am already fluent with many of the basics in rendering, animating, and especially modeling. However, I have come across an annoying problem. My much younger sibling snuck onto my computer while I was in the shower and admitted that he tampered with Maya. One thing he seems to have messed with are the cube polygons. Whenever I bring one in, it enters the scene elongated along the X axis- and in the "transform attributes" tab the scale remains untouched at 1.000. It is worth mentioning that setting the X axis scale level down to .100 transforms the shape into an actual cube, meaning the scale seems to be 10 units above its normal form. Every cube comes in like this, even after I have restarted both my computer and Maya a few times. Google does not seem to be giving me any direct answers. Can somebody please help me?

Click Create->Polygon Primitives->Cube->settings box. When the settings window opens, click Edit->Reset Settings. That should fix it.
