Look at your history there, you have to clean that before UV mapping.

You might crash or lose your file and make sure is .ma not .mb file format.

You just can’t keep modeling or uv mapping and not clear your history, it creates to many calculations stored in the session and eventually the software freezes. So get in the habit of working clean and don’t save the file with history in the scene.
I highly recommend finding a Maya course so you can learn the right way.

look at the Autodesk learning channel and read the software documentation.

Your answer helps but you can look a little deeper on how to fix it. I found it it is that the polygons are flip just got to unshaded in the UV's tool panel in Maya 2020 is on the view tab and it would show you the ones that are flip then you just need to flip back, just right click ,uvshell, select the object and go to modify in the uv's panel tab and click flip done deal. Thanks for your help.

I couldn't tell much from your images but it looks like you sew together the wrong edges and as you said apparently one of the shells were flipped and you managed to fix that.

Good job and have fun with the rest of your model.
