Control Vertext don't move

Hello,

I try to edit a nurb sphere to fit the shape to the image.

The first sphere is okay.  But the second sphere require more isoparms.

Here are the steps:

Edit Nurbs > Insert Isoparms

Back to the sphere --> Control Vertext  --> Move

But the vertext won't move.

How do I adjust the nurb sphere to follow the contour of the sourceimage?

Is it a bug?

Yes by moving the control vertex you should be able to reshape it... Please let me advise you in something else since you are starting with Maya, I highly recommend learning with polygon modeling and not nurbs, polygons are used for game and film work and your motorcycle will be easier that way.

Hello,

If starting with polygon modeling, how do I adjust shapes round as the first and second sphere like nurb modeling?

When I use a sphere (polygon) to start, the smooth shape will be difficult to adjust to fit the image.

A cube is a great way to start modeling, you can add more geometry as you move a long, off course the tires would be from a torus or a pipe, there's a lot of video tutorials on you tube, you should watch a few to get the hang of it....later look into ways to deform the shapes even more by using deformers.

in most cases a sphere will be an awful way to start a model.

Thanks.  I should do more study before switch to polygon modeling.

Good idea, check also Maya learning channel and Digital Tutors., they are the best.

Hello. I know this forum post is 9 years old, but if you are still having issues with moving the vertices after inserting an isoparm, I believe I have a solution. There was something I was also modeling with NURBS and have stumbled upon a similar problem. Sometimes I am still able to edit the vertices after inserting an isoparm, sometimes not.

My first solution would be to delete your history. I did this with the object I was modeling and was able to manipulate the points again. However, if this does not work, close the current file and reopen it from the previous state. From there, that should also resolve your issue.

Hope this helps

I have got the solution. It is simply a visual bug, you did actually move it, it just does not show it.
If you encounter this problem, stop everything immediately and save the scene. Reopening it should de the job.
