Cannot find xGen collection

Hello all, 

I have been working with xGen in Maya 2017 and all of a sudden I can no longer edit my xgen groom or import it. I can see the files there but they are saying that they cannot be found. Please help with this- I have to keep restarting the project due to problems with xgen and I cannot get a grip on it. Any help?

The error message says it can't find a description *in* the file.

Try open the file with a text editor and search for "description" or the name that you expect.
