Can't delete curve without deleting mesh???

I used 3-4 flat circle meshes and 3-4 curves to create the rope down below. I was able to delete 3 of the curves, but there is a problem with the last curve. Whenever I try and delete it, it deletes the whole rope. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Down below are two screenshots, and here is a DropBox link to the Maya file.

There's a newer and easier way of doing this.

Is your previous post resolved? Did @Parmenides reply helped you in any way?

Hey sorry! I forgot to reply to my last post. It did help!
Do you happen to know why the mesh is getting deleted when the curve is deleted?

Thank you Sean for accepting a solution in your previous post, that helps a lot other people in the community when they search for help.

When you are done with some  modeling steps you need to delete your history otherwise will create problems and sometimes corrupt your file.

Under Create>Sweep Mesh is the new tool for creating a variety of cables and ropes, you should try that.

Also remember to work in .ma file not .mb file.

Best regards.
