Tried to get this fixed but can not find the solution. Am using Maya 2013. This recently happened: whenever I select a model, it shows its UVs and then vanishes when I unselect it. How can I change it so the UVs dont show when I select a model?

Theses are not the UV's, this is a helper texture for UV placement.
In Maya 2017 it's in:
UV Editor -> Textures -> Checker Map
Turn it off or close UV Editor.
