"Send to Unity"?

Ok so I have the new extenstion release, and there is supposed to be a file>send to unity feature. I can't seem to find this in the file menu. I guess I am doing something wrong, but I am not sure what.

Look up the help in the help section just keeps refering to the file>send to unity, that is absent from my menu

I finally got it to work by reinstalling. But it took more than your typical uninstall reinstall. I had to manually delete things that was left around my hard drive, registry etc. I am not sure exactly which thing was holding it up, but regardless, it's going now.

Thanks for giving it a go and finding a work around for the upgrade. We will take a look at it and see if we can make the install easier and clean up any old files.

I'll let Dev know, is there specific stuff in the registry that you removed?  This might help us track down the issue.

It sounds like your issue was larger, but a good rule of thumb is whenever installing a new version wipe your preferences first this sometimes can fix some problems.

Thanks,

Remi

I wish I could be more specific unfortunately I didn't take notes when I started digging for things with "maya" in the name in the registry, and c: drive.

All I can really describe is after installing the extension for the first time, I kept looking for the send to unity feature. It wasn't in my file menu. So after looking in Help>about maya LT to verify I had the new extension correctly installed, I also checked to see if I could export a fbx file larger than 25k, and I could.

So then I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, still didnt work. But I noticed when I restarted maya lt, that it was remembering my project settings etc from the old install. So I knew then something was still floating around my hard drive. So uninstalled, searched for anything maya related, and deleted it. Then reinstalled, and it was there Smiley Happy

It was just strange the help>about maya LT showed the extension was installed, I could export the new larger file for fbx, but my file menu didn't show the new "send to unity" feature.

P.S. I am not suggesting search and destroy missions like I did for other people, it can be dangerous! Smiley Very Happy

Sorry I am not a mac user, and I can't offer any help for installing it on a mac. The only thing I can offer is to say I just had to go through my computer and delete any stray files left behind. That included digging in the registry. I don't recommend that if you don't know what you are doing. It can cause your PC to quit working. (I know you have a Mac, just saying)

As far as making sure you have the extension, you can try exporting a fbx file with a polycount higher than 25k, but smaller than 65k and see if it works.

Or just go to Help>about maya LT at the top of the program. It will say extension, if you have it installed.

Good Luck with it.

Is the extension release the same as service pack 1 - what is the link for the extension release?

For me as a perpetual owner with a subscription, login to your autodesk account. In the middle of the screen there is a yellow button labled "get your upgrade" this is NOT what you want to click. You want to click just below it where it says "Product enhancements". Then download from there.

If you are a subscriber, I am not sure if these steps will be the same. But I am guessing it should be very similar.

I meant to say "if you are on a rental plan", I am not sure if these steps are the same.

I am able to download something called Autodesk_Maya_LT_2014_SP1_English_Japanese_SimplifiedChinese_MAC_OSX

Not sure if this is the "extension".

Does extension==ServicePack ?

If I delete the eniter autodesk folder and install Autodesk_Maya_LT_2014_SP1_English_Japanese_SimplifiedChinese_MAC_OSX

there is no File..SendToUnity button in the menu?

Please help

BTW - Is there somewhere else you are supposed to post for help or is this the only place?

No, they are not the same, either in content or availability. Service Packs are available to anyone, Extensions are ONLY available to those who pay for subscription.

Max 2016 (SP1/EXT1)
Win7Pro x64 (SP1). i5-3570K @ 4.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX11.
nVidia GTX760 (2GB) (Driver 430.86).

Hi,

>>Not sure if this is the "extension".
The package you reference above is the service pack  “SP1”

>> Does extension==ServicePack ?
No,  Steve mentions the distinction above in his post. In addition to Maintenance\Subscription, Extensions are also available to customers who are on an active rental plan.

>> there is no File..SendToUnity button in the menu?
The Unity workflow feature is only available in the Extension release.

>>How do I verify what is installed is the correct version?
With Maya and Maya LT, service pack and extensions, they only identify themselves in the about box.
SP will have ‘Service Pack #’ after the text ‘Maya LT 2014’ and EXT will display ‘Extension for Maya LT 2014 …’ followed with a build date and version.

If you know how to use MD5 here are the hashes for the install packages:

Service Pack 1:
MAC = f0e5e8d8eff1084216c398944a67dfa7
WIN = b6cedb7ad30b2882546a72f5f03e1d3b

Extension:
MAC = cef1fcaa7c3208d43d8c063d652096c8
WIN = 0a01713e87d68f09db7e3372bfae3445

>> BTW - Is there somewhere else you are supposed to post for help or is this the only place?
Those with support contracts (maintenance ) can contact support directly.  I also believe there is ‘Up and Ready’ support that is available to all in the first 90 days of purchase for install and licensing help.  More information can be found here:  http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=19171562&linkID=9242258

The link is provided via subscription center.  I think there are a few ways to get there, you can try:

1)Sub-Center directly

 Goto: subscription.autodesk.com (login)

2 Or from the rental portal

Goto: Accounts.autodesk.com (login)

Click: on the ‘Account’ tab  (as it defaults on profile for me)

At the top banner a link appears for Subscription Center (click on that and your login should carry through)

---

Look for something called Enhancements .. there should be a link for whatever products you are entitled to have access to download.  If something is missing there should be a contact us/help link to get in contact with someone regarding your account.

It should look similar to the following … note that his is an internally generated page so it may differ somewhat. sub_mlt.jpg

I would check to see if the GamePipeline plugin is loaded.  It’s possible that it was not loaded on your system for some reason. You would also need a valid Unity install for the export to work of course.  <Attached image for reference.>
