Missing shaders in Hypershade

Hello, it appears that my Hypershade is missing a lot of shaders that should be there by default. I'm new to Maya and this is on a fresh install. I found this thread where someone seemed to have a similar problem, and none of the suggestions there fixed the issue: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-forum/unable-to-see-lambert-material-in-hypershade/td-p/10031994. Like the OP, I was also able to create a Lambert through the ScriptEditor even though it doesn't show as an option in Hypershade. If anyone knows how to get all of the shaders to show, it'd be very much appreciated.

The available nodes seem random.

This kind of problem is impossible to recreate without having exact hw+sw setup, therefore it is important to know what error/warning messages Maya displays in the OutputWindow and ScriptEditor.

When you open the AttributeEditor with the phong1 node selected, are you able to change its type to anything else, like Lambert?

Also, ensure you have plugin loading enabled from Window > Settings/Preferences > PluginManager.. , as there aren't any Arnold nodes present, which might be because MtoA.mll plugin is not enabled.

Did you try to reset the Maya preferences? https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/maya/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Reset-May...

Yes, I had tried to reset preferences, which didn't result in any change.

No, phong1's type seems to be locked and cannot be changed.

The mtoa.mll plugin is not present in the plugin manager, so missing plugins are probably the issue, right? Is there a way to get them installed apart from reinstalling Maya, since I've already tried doing that?

Hi!

You have Maya LT installed and not Maya

Maya LT does not have the same features as Maya, so what you see is correct.

There is also no way to use Arnold in Maya LT.

Apparently you are using MayaLT, which has own forum here in Autodesk site.

I have no xp with LT, and obviously it has less functionality. See this thread with a similar question, perhaps its your case.

Thank you! I was completely unaware that this was a different application. Looking back at the products list, I see that I had scrolled past regular Maya at the top 😅.
