Trying to use game exporter in pipeline to separate animation clips, however blendshapes do not export witht eh game exporter even though options are selected in fbx advanced settings. However when I do it manually, it does export the blendshapes.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting! 🙂 Can you tell me a bit more about your setup? Are you on Windows? What version of Maya LT are you using?

I also found this thread which may be useful to this topic: Trouble Exporting Blend Shapes

Let me know if that answers your question 🙂 If there's anything more that I can do, please let me know. Happy to help!

Hey thanks for the reply, my setup is Windows 10 Maya LT 2018. The manual export works fine with the blendshapes, thats not the problem. The problem is if I go through the game exporter, it does not bake the blendshapes into the deformers like the manual bake to fbx does through the regular export menu. If I do bake through the regular export menu, the blendshapes and all my keyframes are correctly baked into the fbx and is recognized by Unity. However if I export through the game exporter and try to seperate my animation into anim clips through the game exporter, it fails to bake the blendshapes into the fbx, and only bakes the keyframes.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for your reply! Sorry about the misunderstanding initially 🙂 Just to triple-check, is this the process you are following > Maya Help: Export Animation Clips with Game Exporter, and when you "export manually" you are referring to File > Export > FBX?

Any chance you could send me your scene file for additional testing? If you would prefer to send me a private message that would be totally fine too - add your scene file(s) to a drive and message me the download link 🙂

Thanks for your time! I look forward to getting this resolved.

Thanks for the link, I think I found the solution. On normal export File>Export>FBX, I do not have to select my blendshapes in order to have them exported with my deformed mesh, but since I was use to that practice I didn't select them in the game exporter. It turns out you need to select all your blendshapes along with your deformed mesh, so that was my problem. I just needed to include my blendshapes in my export selection for them to come along for the ride. Thanks for the help! This is going to speed up the process for sure!

Awesome!! Glad to hear it 🙂 If you have a resource (article/video) that helped you get to your answer, would you mind posting it on this thread? I'm sure someone else will run into this issue in the future and having a solution marked will help them resolve the issue efficiently!

Thanks again for keeping me posted! Best of luck with your projects.
