Reference Editor organizer

Maya reference editor is annoying, it just list the items in chronological way, but think that it could have the option to organize alphabetically, and for importance as well, something like we have in outliner.

It's hard to work in a huge scene where you need, all the time turn on and turn off references to improve the speed, I really spend a lot of time just trying to find the wanted references.

This is a feature that I could have used for years now, and I really can't understand why it isn't already a thing. Surely the reference editor is just a list function (scripting wise), so there has to be a way to easily tell it to reorganize the list alphabetically, or to move a selected reference up or down in a list.
