Here I am again. I have ten years of Maya and C4d experience, and three years of Houdini experience. I think a big problem with Maya now is that it is more like a collection of plug-ins. Almost all tools have their own editors, which are not common to each other, such as mash, xgen and deformer. The first two use the foreground layer editor to control the links of DG nodes in the background. To operate deformer, you need to use "deformer sets" and "list of input" together. To be frank, many users don't even know these two editors. Compared with other software, it is very difficult to operate the sequence and switch of deformers in Maya. There are nodes and layer editors in Maya, but there is no operation logic throughout the whole software, which brings chaos and increases the cost of learning. In addition, have you considered the data flow of xgen node, mash node and other nodes? They all need scatter and instance, but they all have their own nodes. If all kinds of data of Maya can flow, then a reliable Layer Editor can solve most problems. Or rebuild these functions directly in Bifrost. In short, I think Maya needs to be integrated as a whole. Maybe we don't need any new functions. We need a reliable platform.
