Make the numpad <Enter> functionality the same as regular <Enter> key

Or at least make a preference option to make it like that.
When entering numbers manually in some fields and then pressing the numpad enter key, the cursor is still active inside the field, this causes many annoying cases where you enter a value manually, hit the numpad enter, the click the W for move tool for example, and it writes a "w" in the field instead of activating the move tool.. this is extremely annoying!

This is the wanted behavior.

To keep focus is a very useful, highly requested and time-saving feature to test multiple values for one Attribute, so it's very unlikely this will be changed.

However if there would be an option in preferences to change the behavior i would not see a problem.

I suspected it is intentional, that's why I wrote to make it a preference thing. In my 22 years of working with 3D software I rarely used the behavior you  mention, since I started using maya 3 years ago, this has been very annoying to me 🙂

Sure, everyone has different preferences. For me it's a really important feature and i use it often. Using "Return" or "Enter" based on the needs has become an automatic process for me.

But again, everything that's an "option" you can set, should satisfy all users.

I'm surprised this hasn't received more votes, I hear this often from people I talk to in person.  We'll investigate getting this in as a preference.  Simple way to satisfy everyone.  I like it.

Tell your friends to vote on this to help us out too.

This is ideed a basic usability bug.

Especially if you wanna work fast and when you are already looking at the next area and then wonder nothing happens while typing nonsense letters in the numericfields...

I think it is only one of the many "speed-up & simplify" workflow enhancements, that Maya needs.

Actually benediktzwoelfer, this is performing as designed.  Many people wanted the ability to type a number, see the results, and try a different number.  This can be extremely useful in that scenario which is why we offer both methods.  But I can also see the perspective of "hey, that's not me!  give me the preference to not have that".

Thanks,

I also see, there is a difference between both Enter-keys at the keyboard.

One is letting you to change values, the other makes the field inactive after pressing.

That makes sense to me having the choice.

But I remember, there are some situations, where fields don't get inactive whichever enter-key I used.

I need observe this again.
