Hi Team
The new lock for the Attribute Editor is awesome, thank you for making it. Now is it possible to have a 2nd/3rd mode that focuses on the specific node at hand? This is me coming from Softimage, it had a nifty focus mode that will display the same property/node regardless of the type of object. IF the object doesn't have that node/property then it doesn't update the attribute editor.
This is from XSI manual: The Focus icon updates to show the same type of property belonging to any element you select (hence "focusing" on the type of property). For example, if you display the Light property of a spotlight and then select a point light, the property editor is updated to display the Light property of the point light. However, if you then select a geometric object, the property editor is not updated.
Why is it useful? it will save a ton of click clacking. Here is a scenario: If I'm doing a mass change to a toonramp node and I have a few dozen objects. Naturally the workflow would be:
1- Click one object, traverse/pick from hypershade or node editor to the toon ramp. This process is not a single click as you can imagine.
2- Make the changes in the attribute editor.
3- Click another object, go back to 1
4- Make the changes in the attribute editor
5- and so on and so forth.
With an attribute focus
1- Click the initial object object, traverse/pick from hypershade or node editor to the toon ramp.
2- focus the attribute editor on the toon ramp.
3- make change to attribute for object 1
4- click on obj2 from outliner or view, attribute editor is still focuses and it will load the toonramp for that new object, make the changes. No traversal/seeking/or refreshing.
5- pick obj 3,
4- pick obj 4
5- picked the wrong object, a light for instance. the attribute editor doesn't update and stays locked at the last toonramp that was picked.
5- pick obj 5 and continue working.
