"Windowing on Mac OS X is a total mess since Maya 2010. In certain conditions the Hide command will be completely ignored. Additionally floating palettes like undocked Tool Settings don't honor application z-ordering. If for example Safari is the current top app, any Maya palettes will remain in front of it."
"Attribute editor always stays in front, no matter which program you're currently using.
Also, maya windows "jump" out of the dock sometimes when you switch applications."
"I cannot stand that pressing any key (even a modifier key) will cause whatever window the cursor is hovering over to pop to the front. It's very inconsistent across different windows, but try opening several windows slightly overlapping each other, then move your mouse around and push 'option'.
Some windows completely ignore it. For example, if you have Hypershade, Expression Editor and Graph Editor open in that order, Expression Editor will never pop to the front when you push a modifier, but the other windows will. No window should pop at all. (Maya 2013.5)
The window layering focus should not change until the mouse is clicked."
"If you hit render and leave the program, you're basically stuck with any floating windows hanging around on the top layer for eternity until the render is done"
