fix bullet system

fix bullet system

It wold be amazing if you can fix this system and make is usable for studios. It is a great idea but it is poorly implemented and lacks any depth. Here is a list of things that you really need to make it a valuable tool...

1. Allow dynamic constraints to affect the bullet geo

2. When a system is set to initially sleep, you are not able to change that state with a field. This would be very useful so you are not reliant to using a collision geo.

3. Volume axis field does not work with the bullet system

4. Provide artist the ability to add fields to a list inside the system and give them the option to remove or turn off individual field affects.

5. When a system is set to initially sleep and you want to affect only a region. This is not possible. Once you break the sleeping state, it triggers the entire mesh.

6. As of now, you can not easily make an animated mesh a collision object for the bullet solver. There is a workaround but it is extremely unintuitive and not artist friendly.

7. Please add more parameters to the bullet system, ex painted constraints

This is just some ideas that would make this tool very useful for everyone. If you want to compete with Houdini and other fx tools then you really need to step up your game.

Thanks for the feedback.  Have you tried using MASH for rigid body dynamics?  It is based on Bullet but adds a lot of nice features that were missing. You can check out a basic tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iExEPk6r_Vk

What I love is that you can adjust constraints, fields and dynamic attributes with 3d volumes called falloff objects (that can be animated).

Tip: If you are using multiple objects in an arrangement, all you have to do is select all of your objects and create a mash network. Set the distribution mode to "Initial State" then add an ID node and you'll have the same setup you had in your viewport that can be made dynamic with the dynamics node.

Let us know if this helps, thanks!
