I will definitely take a closer look at Maya and especially Bifrost!
But at first a question to ihooper employee:
i always missed a visual programming tool in Maya, and now i have the impression that Bifrost is just such a tool. To put my question in concrete terms. is it possible to create with Bifrost (comparable to Grasshopper 3D) for example a gradient islamic pattern. In your opinion, would something like this be possible with Bifrost?
@Anonymous thanks for the link to that video. Grasshopper specializes in making complex parametric geometry whereas Bifrost was initially more focussed on smoke and fire effects. Bifrost is still developing its geometry manipulation capabilities. While I think it would be possible, to do this today in Bifrost would probably require more basic math and low-level nodes than what you see in the Grasshopper example.
Of course, Bifrost is very community driven, so if we haven't built the necessary nodes yet, it is always worth asking around to see if someone has what you need. For example, this Discord group is an active place to meet and share with other Bifrost users: https://discord.com/invite/RpsYAzXAh7
