Add "UV Space" as an option to mirror skinweights.

Add "UV Space" as an option to mirror skinweights.

In the Copy Skin Weights Dialog, there's an option to transfer via UV space.

 

This would also be a very helpful feature to have when mirroring skinweights, as the mesh would not have to be in it's bind pose to mirror.
