Xgen - Cant change width of hairs in render

I am just learning Xgen and am using Arnold to render.  I was able to lower the width of the hairs but only to a point, now no matter how low I put the width the hairs are at a stopping point but still too thick for the look I want to achieve.  Any ideas on what might be going on?  The primitive width was parented to the grooming width attribute, i tried changing it back to a slider as a test and it didnt affect anything either. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Open your Arnold render settings, and on the AOVs tab, click on aiHair in the AOV Groups column, then select all of the available AOVs for that selection and send them over to the Active AOVs column...then try your render again.

I guess it turned out to be a bug in the Arnold IPR renderer, I have to close and reopen it each time to see proper changes. Strange.

You have to press cntrl+u to force a full scene evaluation for IPR renders to pick up changes like that. The Maya renderview window has an otpion to force full scene evaluation with IPR by default in the render globals:

The arnold render view does not have this option, only the CNTRL+U to force the update.
