Which files go in which project folders?

I just downloaded a model to be rigged as part of an exercise I'm doing in a book on rigging. I know the textures files go in the images folder. However, I have files shown in the attached that I don't know which folder location to transfer them to. Can anyone help with this? Thanks in advance.Untitled.jpg

Hello @Anonymous,

thanks for your post! Basically it is good to create a new project in Maya when you start working on a new scene. Here is an overview, how it works: Create a new project. Here is also a video tutorial: 01 Maya Tutorial - Creating and Setting a Project

This helps to organize all files, like scene files (go to "scenes"), texture files (go to "sourceimages") and also files that Maya creates automatically. The ".swatch"-files are such files that are automatically created by Maya, it is the representation of a material in the Hypershade window:

Maya Sahder Swatch.jpg

Once you have created a material in the Hypershade, a material "swatch" will show how it looks like. This little rendering of the shader ball is stored automatically in this path  YourProjectName/scenes/.mayaSwatches:

I hope this helps! Looking forward to your response if you have further questions!

Best regards,

Patrick
