Where is prefs in Maya 2019?

Hi,

I'm trying to change prefs in Maya but can't find the folder, where is it for 2019 version?

I've looked at C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2019 but no here

I've also looked at C:\Users\USERNAME\My Documents\Maya\VERSION\ according to to https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/maya/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Reset-May...

but there is no My Documents under the USERNAME. There is "Documents" but there is no Maya there

Thank you for your help, Sergio

Hi @Anonymous

Thank you for posting! Did you install Maya in a custom location? The locations described in the Reset Preferences article is the default installation location, but that can vary if you chose to install it on another drive 🙂

One handy (and free) tool that will search your entire computer is this one: Void Tools | Everything

You can use this tool to search for your Maya 2019 folder and your prefs folder to figure out where it was installed. If it is not in the default location, I would recommend doing a clean uninstall and reinstall

Hi @Anonymous

Happy Friday! I hope you are doing well. I wanted to check in and see if you had any luck tracking down your preferences folder? Any new issues pop up?

If you have found a solution, we would love for you to mark it on this thread so that other users can find the answer efficiently. If you still need assistance, I would be happy to help!

Hi !

Thanks for your message.

I chose default at all times. Unfortunately Mayas updates are installed at different folders than first time Maya install, hard to find it all in one place.

installMaya.pnginstallmaya2.png

I can't install third party unapproved tools like voidtools.

I have found it in onedrive's folder using explorer. Somehow onedrive takes ownership at install hence we'll be removing it from the systems.

Thanks, Sergio
