When I right-click the mouse, the following error occurs: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/LookdevX/Maya/2025/1.6.0/plug-ins/lookdevx/scripts/LookdevXViewportMenu.mel line 32: No object matches the name: polySurfaceShape1.surfaceShader

Hi @2778311504 ,

thanks for bringing your question to the forums! Do you have any custom scripts implemented in the version of Maya you are encountering the error on?

Does the error happen no matter what scene you are in, even a blank one? If thats the case, it could be that its trying to find a material library that isn't loaded. It's interesting that it specifically mentions LookdevX, have you gone to that file path to check to see if that file is in the folder its saying its not in? I hope i can help Pinpoint the cause.

Warm regards,

The selected mesh is not connected to a shading group (SG).
Like this:

polySurfaceShape.png

So LookDevX cannot set up any material that might be created.

Anything else on the pop-up menu should work fine though.

thanks! This is indeed a shader problem! The strange thing is that, for example, when I select pSphere and press the right button, nothing goes wrong, but when I select nurbsCircle and press the right button, something goes wrong. How should I fix it?

Thanks! The problem should be in the shader. The strange thing is that, for example, when I select pSphere and press the right button, nothing goes wrong, but when I select nurbscircle and press the right button, something goes wrong. That file ,LookdevXViewportMenu,is indeed in the folder.I haven't tried custom scripting. Can you help me find the cause and solution? Thanks a lot.
