I've been testing Maya 2017 a bit, so forgive me if this has been solved already.
The new UV editor window seems to have a problem showing textures in the UV editor display.
I tested this with a new scene: created a sphere, assigned an aiStandard material, added a ramp texture to the diffuse color.
When I open the UV editor, the ramp texture will flash for a second and then go to black.
Some solutions I have attempted are:
checking and deleting color sets,
making sure the correct texture is selected in the UV editor texture tab,
going to the material attribute Hardware Texturing and setting textured channed to color
A little bit of success happened when I play around with the Mesh component Display - Display colors, except the second I move the view it returns to black.
