UDIM in MaterialX OpenPBRShader

Hello.

I am creating an asset and would like to use the MaterialX OpenPBRShader in USD.
However, I encountered issues while configuring it.

When I load 8 4K UDIM files via TiledImage and connect them to the OpenPBRShader, the system freezes for several tens of seconds.
With the MaterialX StandardShader, simply adjusting the weights while the files are connected causes the system to freeze for several tens of seconds every time.

If there are any solutions to these two issues, I would appreciate your guidance.
Thank you in advance.

I get instant feedback if if change the weights or a range node during rendering with Arnold.

I have 10 x 4k UDIMs here.
Im on Maya2027

Thank you for trying it out.

I forgot to mention the texture format and file size.
The textures are 16-bit TIFF files, and each file is approximately 50 MB. Could you please test it again with these specifications?

The issue is that whenever I connect the “Out” to “Base Color,” or when I insert a “Color Correct” node in between, the ‘Processing’ message appears and the system freezes.

When using “MaterialX Standard Surface,” simply adjusting the shader values causes the “Processing” message to appear and the system to freeze each time.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Are you on the latest lookDevX version? (maya2027)
Doesnt change much if i use a tif. Are you loading the textures from a network?

If you connect a new node its baking the UDIMs for the viewport. Have you tried to pause the viewport?
I know its not a solution but maybe a workaround.

I'm sorry for the late reply.

This has been tested using Maya 2027.

Does it not change depending on the file format or size....?

The textures are being loaded over the network.

This issue doesn’t occur when using the traditional Hypershade setup with aiStandardSurface and file nodes.

I suspect that a process might be running to bake all UDIMs every time a change is made to a texture.

While the traditional file node has a button to "Generate Preview" for UDIMs, the tiled image node in LookdevX seems to lack that option.

I’m going to investigate further to see if there are any workarounds for this issue.

Hello,

I won't be needing any further support.

I plan to do a little more testing with various data, but I suspect this is an issue with LookdevX's internal calculation processing, so there is likely no solution.

If I do find a workaround, I will be sure to share it. Thank you for your help.
