Trimetric Camera in Maya?

Hi all – has anyone had experience creating a trimetric camera in Maya?

I'm modeling machinery using technical drawings as my image plane.  Most views are isometric, but there are a few that are trimetric and I'm wondering if it's possible to match my camera to the different angles.

My isometric camera is set up fine (orthographic camera, X: -35.265, Y: 45).  I'll get a dimetric camera if I rotate X to 30.....but I'm still unsure how to match the angles for the trimetric view.

I have an image with the needed angles and scene file if anyone knows how to adjust it.  Thank you!Angles Needed for Trimetric ViewAngles Needed for Trimetric View

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

The only way I could image doing this would be either manually typing in the degree values to rotate the camera properly or you could write a script that would place the camera at the right coordinates and angles etc.

Please let me know if this helps or if you need any more assistance!

Thanks for the suggestion, Sean.

Seems one way around this is to match a cube to either bottom angle with an isometric or dimetric camera, then rotate it to match the other angle and model using object orientation.

Just curious if a trimetric camera setup is even possible in Maya.  I'll leave this post open for a bit.

* in picture, bottom angle should read 26.565

Hi @Anonymous

That's most likely the best way to do it.

The only other way I could imagine would be to manually create another camera and set it up accordingly which is pretty similar as well.

I'm curious if anyone else in the community would have insight on this since we don't really see a lot of mechanical modeling like this 高兴表情
