Time slider preferences error

Hello,

I'm using Windows 10 Maya 2018.1

I'm trying to save my Frame Rate preferences to 25. Whenever I change from the default of 24, I get this error message:

// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2018/scripts/startup/createPrefWndUI.mel line 2580: Object 'animEdCadenceLineType' not found. //

I can see that in my Userprefs, the save is being made, but whenever I restart Maya, it defaults back to 24.

Any clues as to how to fix this?

Hi!

1. Try a reset of your preferences.
Rename the folder prefs in folder 2018 to something like prefs_backup, or to reset everything, the folder 2018 to 2018_backup (or even the maya folder to maya_backup). Maya creates new folders (don't copy preferences from previous Maya versions). Detailed at:

2. Set frame rate in File -> New Scene [options].

This didn't work for me.

I've totally uninstalled all of maya 2018, and reinstalled (including the .1 update). I am using completely new preferences.

Whenever I change the preferences: Settings > Time Slider > Framerate: to 25 fps, I get this error:

// Error: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2018/scripts/startup/createPrefWndUI.mel line 2580: Object 'animEdCadenceLineType' not found. // 

As you can see, it is not an error with the preferences, but seems to be something to do with the scripts folder in the program files directory.

If I look at my userPrefs, I can indeed see that the settings have been saved to 25fps, but Maya always defaults to 24 on restart.

Hi!

1. Re-installing Maya does not reset preferences, so as suggested in my previous message, please try a reset of everything ... maya folder to maya_backup. Test it.

2. Again: FPS for a new scene is set and saved in File -> New Scene [options] + saving of Preferences.

Hi, I totally trashed the previous 2018 preferences when I did my reinstall, so that maya needed to create a brand new prefs folder. It changed nothing. Just now I renamed the maya folder as maya_backup as you have suggested (again, so that maya would create a new one). Same error. It doesn't seem to be an error with the preferences.

I just tried changing the time slider to 25fps on a fresh install of 2018 and had no issues.

When you uninstalled Maya, did you perform a clean uninstall/reinstall of Maya? This will completely remove all Autodesk/Maya folders so you can start with a fresh slate.

Thanks for your help.

I have now done a full clean install of 2018.1, per the notes on Autodesk's website. With a completely fresh install (new maya folder any everything removed from the TMP folder, etc.) I still get this error when changing the preferences for Settings: Time or Time Slider: Framerate.

The only oddity is that on re-installing 2018.1 update, the installer choices only gave me the choice to 'install' (only Repair, uninstall or close). I chose Repair, and the installation took a long time (15 minutes?) but installed without errors.

The only other Autodesk product I left installed is 3dsMax2013.

Thanks for sticking with this. After reinstalling everything and doing what mspeer suggested (New Project> Settings, save settings) and restarting, it looks like I can now open Maya with a default of 25fps! This didn't work in my previous attempts. It's the little things...

 HI! I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM BUT I CAN´T RESOLVED,

I CLEAN UNINSTALLED MAYA MANY TIMES , AND I INSTALLED OLD VERSION BUT THE TIME LINE RUN VERY QUICKLY, ALSO I CHANGED THE PREFERENCE, SAVE AND RESET MAYA, AND RESET PREFERENCE TOO.

COULD YOU HELP ME PLEASE?

I JUST RESOLVED, I CHANGED THE OPTIONS IN PLAY BACK SPEED AND FRAMERATE IN 25 IN SETTINGS, THEN  I SAVED SETTIGNS AND RESET MAYA, BUT THE MENSSAGE STILL APPEAR, BUT IT WORKS. THANK YOU
