Time editor clips baked itself

Hi, I'm using maya 2026, from window, and i need help.

I am animating a scene, i used time editor to animate an object(no joint, just geometry)

it worked real great. then i saved that scene, close it, opened it again, when I opened time editor, there is nothing. animation still exist, but no clip.
i checked compositions but there is none, then i realized every clip has baked to base animation layer.

I opened another scenes that worked no problem, but as i opened all the scenes from before, every single one of their clips were baked into base animation layer.

i need to edit animation timing and replace few clips with new one, but now i have to scratch it from the beginning.

so this is what i'd like to ask:

1. Is there any ways to turn it back? (back to clip that is overlapped, editable shape)

- there's source still left, but i don't know how to turn it back.

2. what caused this? I don't want it to happen again.

3. Is this common?

my assumption of the cause:

1. low storage capacity(17GB was left- I deleted few files, now 300GB available)

2. turn on the computer for too long (about 2 weeks - so I turned it off for a night)

3. too heavy scene (takes a minute to load 23mb scene - i didn't wanted to accidentally delete fatal node or rig so didn't do anything about it.)

I wonder if there's anything i can do to fix it, i really need help!
(sorry about bad english. I'm not an English native speaker)

I accidentally did it again and found some of the cause.

I made mistake by copy-pasting timeEditor-ed object instead of keyframe. it makes whole clips baked, and can not undo it.

I'm leaving how i recovered my clips just in case someone needs it.

In outliner, there's time editor object. inside that, there's "sources" folder icon, inside it, there's animation sources that you put into the scene.

right click it and do 'Remap and create clip from name spaces'. choose right name spaces, then your clip will back in time editor.

this doesn't recover modification like how you stratched or looped your clips, but if you had edited keyframe of the animation clips like i did, it will be recovered.

although it doesn't explain why all of my scenes had baked, but at least now I know how I should be careful about copy paste. btw I really wish maya can undo copy paste action. it always makes trouble.
