Student or educator license?

Hi, I am an English teacher in Turkey and I'm also studying Photography And Camera Operation at Anatolian University as a second univesity option. I would like to get Maya student or educator version to learn and create youtube tutorials if possible. I didn't find my university in the list and I don't want to add wrong information. Can I get Maya free for this purpose? I need a brief explanation. Thank you.

The answer is no.

Please read this entire link and after you finish the answer is still no.

Get a subscription license for the amount of time you wanna use for a commercial project.

Although @damaggio‘s response is correct for YouTube, as you don’t have full control over the ad content displayed on the site, there are other options for hosting platforms (including linking to your own ad-less site) that don’t have these restrictions/implementations.

I recommend reaching out to Autodesk to get full legal details as you want to teach a course online, but not in a standard classroom setting. Just bear in mind neither you or the hosting party are allowed to earn revenue, either directly (selling) or indirectly (ads) when using a non-subscription license.

That being said, if my memory serves correctly the distinction about the educators and students license is based on location. Student is for Teachers/Students on their own personal machines. Educator is for IT Admins to use to install on lab computers owned by an institution.

Cheers,

Mike
