Snap point doesn't work

Hello

The snap point with "v" doesn't work when an object is tooo far from the origin axes (0,0,0).
It is so irritating. Sincerly. The snap is a function we use daily and that problem did not exist in previous versions of Maya.
Snap edge works correctly.
If you could fix that you would ease my mind....

Thanks !

Tested vertex snapping for a polyCube at TranslateY = 921759247361471 units away. Snapping, with some temporal display glitches, works in M2019.

Must be some other, e.g. MoveTool, settings. Like, if you want to snap multiple verts to a point, ensure RetainComponentSpacing is disabled.

Hello
Snap pivot or snap object to another object don't work at all here. When I put these objects near the origin it works again.

Object/Pivot snapping still works here Maya2019.

Check out this ongoing discussion about pivot snapping issues with Maya2022.2/3.

I re-installed Maya 2019 and the snap point works fine.
It is still very unfortunate to have to downgrade 3 versions back for it to work. And I can no longer use the novelty "Sweep" which is frankly very practical and which we have been waiting for for decades haha
I hope the snap will be fixed very soon in Maya 2022. It's a basic function used every day...

Hi,

Is it possible for you to post a simple scene in 2022 that doesn't work when the object is away from the origin and we can investigate?

Thanks.

Hello,
it is easy. Just create a cube. Put it far from the origin and the snap point pivot won't work anymore on this selected cube. But ! If you duplicate this cube you can snap point the selected cube pivot on the cube that is  NOT selected. Sorry for my bad english ^^
I can't link my file 😕 an extension problem...I don't know why
Thanks

Can confirm OP. Sometimes the "snap to vertex" function with 'V' just do not snap in maya 2024.2.

Acctually that happens when another display layer that was set to template is visible.

The object, which vertexes i try to snap is of course not in that layer (it's in no layer). When i turn off the templated layer with a completely different object in it, snapping on that object, which has nothing to do with that layer, works again.

I can confirm that in 2023.2 I am also having trouble with snapping. 2022 has no issues, but when hitting V or X to snap to vertex or grid in 2023, the little circle in the manipulator no longer shows up. I've tried objects with a skincluster, group objects, and primitive meshes.

same thing happened to my file here. it was actually a template layer (it was a skin geometry) obstructing the joint node i wanted to snap to, and when i switched it to other modes it works well again

For anyone having this issue in Maya 2022+
It's in Move tool settings.
Just another dumb gimmick the Autodesk crew refuses to fix. Point snapping on vertixes only works if this is enabled.

Yea, because one of my friends was having this exact same issue in the latest Maya. In 2025.
Funny how some things never change.

Unfortunately, this is not solving my described problems. The Problem with the temp display layers still persists. Then this is a different problem than OPs.
