Shift + Multiple edges Selection not working?

Hello all,

 

For some reason I have not been able to select an edge > Hold  Shift > Double click  > to loop all the way around a square top and it only works with edges in the middle of the square  but not the outside of the square? Can someone please tell me why? I tried it several times and even made a new square and the problem still persists.

Hi,

 

To select an edge loop you just need to hold Shift and double-click on a single edge.

 

For edge loops on the sides of the cube it will only select up to the corners because each corner has three edges so the tool does not know which direction you want to extend the loop.

Therefore, you will need to hold shift and double-click on each side separately as shown below:
