Ptex map not showing in viewport

Hey guys!

When trying to paint my Density mask for the hair in Xgen it doesn't show the map. It's there as hair strands are being removed, but I paint the map blindly with only white showing.

I've used Xgen a fair number of times before and am no complete beginner. The mesh has UVs, deleted history and assigned lambert. I even tested on a simple plane in the same scene where the Ptex map worked correctly, showing up in the viewport.

Anyone has any suggestions to what might have happened?

The attached images show my settings, how the map exists and how the project itself doesn't seem to be at fault.

Thanks for listening.

Accepted solution

Found the solution, for some reason the "Display Colors" under "Mesh Component Display" was on. Disabling display colors made the ptex map visible.
