other objects are hiding when i try to combine multiple meshes

So I'm new to Maya so please try not to laugh to hard with my question. I have a huge map of city environment that I created. I wanted these meshes combined to become one object so I try to combine some blocks but meanwhile the other blocks buildings are hiding. Why are these still hiding?I've attached a video of what I have.

Hi @saadaziz887,

thanks for your post! When you are combining objects, I would recommend to delete history in advance and after combining the objects. If an object was created from a Boolean operation or any other procedure, it will keep the construction history. Combining those objects into other objects can cause issues, since the construction history will have an effect on the combine operation.

Here are the steps that you can do:

1. Select the objects that you want to combine in the Maya outliner or in the viewport.

2. Go to Edit > Delete by Type > History (or use Alt+Shift+D).

Then perform the Combine operation. In some cases you might notice that combined objects are grouped into strange group constellations. In such cases, select the combined objects or groups in the viewport and delete history again. The groups will disappear and you will see the combined shape objects in the outliner.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Patrick
