Not Commercial Use ?

(forgive me if this question has been already asked, or answered)

I'm a student looking to practice 3D with Maya but I had some questions regarding the terms and conditions. The student version of Maya clearly states it is not for "commercial use," but does this mean I can't upload anything I create online? Of course, I understand I cannot upload or create anything for profit, but I have heard commercial use also described as really any kind of outside attention at all. Does it mean that I can upload online legally, but if it gathers any attention afterwords then it is violating the terms and is illegal?

I'd really like a better understanding of the commercial conditions if possible, and I'm sorry if I've asked a painfully easy question, but I just don't entirely understand?

When you upload to a site like YouTube, they generate revenue from it.  Its not much different than you creating content then "sharing" it with somebody who you know will incorporate it into a commercial product.  You aren't the one profiting but it still violates the terms of use.  Don't worry too much about understanding all the possible technical aspects - just adhere to the intent of it being for your education only.
