I'm trying to use the Shatter effect on a house model and it give me an error almost all the time

I have tried (delete the history, freeze transformation, assign new material, decrease the shards ) but it just keeps giving me errors, sometimes even crash.

It did apply successfully one or two time,  very confuse now.....

thanks for all helps

Hi!

The solid shatter script only works with "clean" meshes. Here this means a simple and clean topology creating one closed object.

Based on the provided screenshot your object does not look like this.

Sorry, I doubt you will be able to use solid shatter with this object.

You can try one of the other shatter options.

For further help, please upload the scene-file.

Hi!

There is a problem with the material connection of polySurface1.

The easiest way to correct this is:

Simply assign a new material to polySurface1.

Maya will not help you.

try pulldownit, it’s very affordable and the demo will let you do a small number of fragments.

If you have the time, do it by hand 🤮

please sort you destruction pipeline Autodesk!!

Hi!

Please be more specific, what does this mean:

"but than it crashed and show 01.jpg..."

What do you do before it crashes.

For me it's:

1. Open the scene

2. Select house (polySurface1)

3. Assign new Material (Maya > Phong)

4. Apply Solid Shatter with default settings

=> Done, no crash.

Hi!

So it crashes right after finishing the shatter operation without any further action by you?

That's strange.

Based on your scene it looks like you use the first Maya 2018 release, so i recommend to update to Maya 2018.5 (the version i used to test this).

You may also try a reset of your preferences after you installed Maya 2018.5.
Rename the folder prefs in folder 2018 to something like prefs_backup, or to reset everything, the folder 2018 to 2018_backup (or even the maya folder to maya_backup). Maya creates new folders (don't copy preferences from previous Maya versions). Detailed at:
