Moving Xgen Interactive Groom project to another computer

Hi guys,

I have a finished xgen groom using Maya 2017 Update Interactive Groom.

I'm trying to move it to another machine, but it wont bring the fur across.

The 'descriptions' are still in the scene with all the layers preserved, the plugin is loaded etc but the fur just wont appear (even though the file size is still very large as if theyre present).

As I cant find any files that the scene is referencing, am I missing something here? I know the old xgen had a lot of reference files but does Interactive have any that I've missed? I have noticed in my scene its missing the basenodes where I usually find the density. Theyre just not in the Xgen editor.

Any urgent help would be great thanks!

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

When you moved the project over to your new computer, did you bring the entire project folder and set your maya to it before trying to open the scene? Often times this can cause the issue or Maya may be looking for a file path that isnt there since you're on your new machine.

Please hit the Accept as Solution button if my post fully solves your issue, or reply with additional details if the problem persists.

Kudos are greatly appreciated. Everyone likes a thumbs up!

Does the File Path Editor show any missing files? If you are suing images to drive parameters such as scale or density, if they are not in the new project location, then this might account for the missing hair. Also, do the descriptions still have a material attached and are you using VP2? Interactive grooms will not show in legacy VP 1.

One thing you could try is to go back to the original scene and create a zip file using the archive zip tool and then transferring the files in the zip to the new location.

Cheers
