mb file stuck on reading?

Hi, my maya file refuses to open....yesterday it was working fine and out of no where it won't open today. I see no reason why it would become corrupted since I did nothing to the file in between the time period. Have I lost all my progress....??? If so, how would you suggest creating backups in the future? Screen Shot 2018-10-26 at 8.33.29 PM.png

Don't work with MB files, there's no way to recover lost data in this format.

Enable incremental save or save by time.

Always clean your history if you don't need anymore, that's a major issue here in the forums with beginners.

Please read about Maya history .

You can load your file here and hopefully someone will try to open and resave for you.

I cannot do anything. The scene is stuck on loading. Nothing is responding.

I cleared my history once during the work progress but yes I definitely have history.

Hi,

This is just a shot in the dark, but do you have Mohave?  If so, have you tried the workaround suggested by Autodesk in this post?

Couple of things to try, all of which I have used in the past to save a broken scene.

Try importing the broken scene into a new scene.

Only open one viewport, and set it to wireframe, with the render set to Legacy, and then try opening.

Turn the material thumbnail generator ON button off (below file, in the hypershade window) before you try opening.

Rename your prefs file to prefs_old (just to check)

Saving files as MA is a good idea if you can spare the space, because you can open them in a text editor and sometimes fix issues that way, but if it's a MB that's not an option.

ok. Turns out that it is not that the file is not loading. It just took 42 minutes to open.....I deleted the history and now it only took 18.2 seconds....thanks for the other infos as well.

Hi,
I'm trying to open my MB file RIGHT AFTER of closing maya, and its just getting stuck on loading on 100% but doesn't load the scene. I've tried opening other scenes but they are only in KB, The file I'm trying to open is just 3.5MB. I dont know what to do now, I've tried updating GPU drivers and windows, but nothing is happening. I really need open the file for our subject, can someon kindly open this for me and delete the history and save it and send it here again?

WOULD BE REALLY GRATEFUL IF SOMEONE CAN OPEN IT, DELETE HISTORY AND SAVE IT.

Thank you in advance!
