Maya model is black when unsmoothed in displayport

Hello,

Fist time posting a qustion so I hope this is the right place.

For some reason my model is displaying as black in the display port and I can't get it to go back to normal.

It displays fine when smoothed but when I press 1 to unsmooth it goes black.

Ive checked the normal directions, it even renders fine both smoothed and undsmoothed, I've tried applying different shaders but nothing.

Here are some screenshots. Hopefully this makes sense.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi @MrBeaujangles ,

That's funky, and has totally happened to me before. According to this video, you can try conforming your normals, and then selecting Mesh Display > Unlock Normals, see if that works.

Warm regards,

Hey thanks for taking the time to help!
That worked!! I was confused cos when I checked the normals they all seemed fine but yeah unlocking them did the trick. I've never had that come happen before but will keep this in mind.
Thanks:)
