Maya - Fatal error (Attempting to save...)

Hi team,

Hoping to get some help with Maya as I had it crash while working on a scene and now when I went to open it back up I keep getting a fatal error which says 'Attempting to save in .... Temp folder'.

I’ve tried deleting Maya and installing Maya 2019, tried opening Maya 2017. I updated my drivers and even renamed the temporary folder naming convention and I can’t troubleshoot the issue. I’ve looked up a few forums online and tried what they’ve recommended and haven’t had any luck.

Is anyone encountered this issue and can provide any options to fix it?

Thanks – appreciate the help

Hi @sean.heasley,

I am having the same issue in ubuntu - I had followed the steps as given:  Install autodesk maya 2022 on debian  , I had tried

MAYA_DISABLE_OPENCL=1

but it didn't work for me - have tried other solutions such as renaming prefs to prefsOld, I also get an output of Unrecognized OpenGL version on my terminal, waiting for a reply.

I tired the Env Vars suggestion above but it didnt help.  The solution that worked for me was clearing my Maya prefs folder.  Something in there seemed to have gone bad.  It was suggested i copy any .mel files from my Maya prefs folder to another location for back up, then removing them from the folder Maya stores them.  I was able to launch maya and open files again.  So I closed maya, and added the prefs back from my back up location, one at a time, to see which was the problem.
