Maya crashes when duplicate special

Hi there! I try to make instance copies of my character using Duplicate Special. But unfortunately it crashes every time I try.

 

For this I select my character's group "rig_group", then go to Edit → Duplicate Special ⊡

And I want to use these settings:

uji0CUi

 

And it crashes Maya when I hit "Apply" or "Duplicate Special".

Note that it works on this character on a fresh file.

Hi @Dautryl 

Rigs maintain expression nodes and some nodes that not directly connected with the other parts of the rig

and some nodes that we can't make instances of that node....and more.

sometime some nodes are connected in away that maybe only the rigger know how he did it .

duplicate the input graph option is not working with instance but a rig need all the inputs.

I suggest reference it or import it twice, no matter if the rig animated or not.

if you used reference and want to overwrite some animation on one of the references, make sure this option in preferences is checked :

I feared something like that. Thanks for the reply.

I also found a way to do this by selecting only the mesh elements, it works well. And in my case in only needed the duplication for rendering, no need for duplicated controllers.
