MAYA CAMERA SEQUENCER - Import editorial

Hello,

I'm trying to work back and forth with the import/export editorial from the camera sequencer. When I import an xml (edl) the sequencer recreates new Shot Camera in maya ; it doesn't simply update with the new timing. Is there a way to just get the new timing from EDL and keeping my current cameras inside maya?

The Idea, it's to build a kind of workflow between maya and premiere. But even when I export from maya the editorial et re-import it, new blocks (shots) appear in the sequence.

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

i don't believe this is possible because generally when importing anything, not just sequences, Maya will create its own camera, object etc rather than try an update an existing camera or object.

It's possible there may be a 3rd party plug-in that could do this but I don't know of any that apply to this specific workflow.

Generally when I see users go back and forth from Premiere to Maya they tend to import/export the camera itself and that tends to work.

Thanks Sean. I'll look with the IT/Dev to make a tool for that.

Hey Gzimmer,

This is definitely possible, but not out of the box.  We have aaf builder tools at work that do exactly that, but they are all custom tools written by our tds/developers.
