Maya 2025 Viewport Changes

Hi everyone,

My team and I recently upgraded to Maya 2025 from 2022 and noticed some differences with how things rendered in the viewport using hardware renderer 2.0 that have made working in the viewport much harder. We work with Maya and Vray and use a lot of glass. Previously, refractive vray materials would display totaly clear in the viewport and enable the artists to see through objects while working pretty easily. Now with 2025 we've noticed at other viewing angles, there is an opaque ring that stops you from being able to see through objects. Changing the transparency algorithm in viewport 2.0 to weighted average has helped make that ring more transparent, but not entirely so. Any help with making glass fully see through would help us considerably with our workflows. Thank you!

I can try the chaos group forum as well, but we're on Vray 6.

You could try to use a different shader in the viewport.

This works for Vray shader also.

But you have to add the override Attribute first.
