Maya 2020 Scene not loading and freezes

Hello everyone,

I'm having trouble opening up a particular scene with any version of Maya, and I'm not sure what other steps to try to fix it. When opening the file Maya says 100% read, but then it never opens.

So far I have changed name of pref's folder, tried importing scene rather that opening scene, uninstalled/reinstalled Maya, and nothing has worked. I also have tried to open the scene on another computer with the same results.

Some additional information: I was adding textures to geometry when Maya crashed. It was working normally prior to that. But since then I can't seem to open the file now. It's not a very complicated or large scene. So I am kind of stumped at the moment. Any tips or help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hardware: GeForce RTX 2070 Super, Win 10, Intel Core i7 - 10700k, 32 GB Ram.

I can provide the scene file if need be.

That scene file is incomplete, it just ends like this:

Thanks for the response.  I'll be honest I don't really know what that means. How do I "complete" the file?

The uploaded file was only part of a scene file.
The scene file just stopped in the middle of a shape node definition.

Was it the upload? Was it interrupted before it finished?

Or did Maya crash or your electricity fail while Maya was saving the scene file?

It could be anything like that.

I haven't played around much with incomplete .ma files.
I wonder what happens if you remove that last incomplete setAttr command?

Hi!

@Anonymous

It seems only a part of the file was written to disk when saving the file.

The main problem is that all connections that are required for history and dependencies between objects and editors are missing (as well as all materials), so the scene can't be recovered.

There is nothing that you can do to restore the missing part or to recover the scene.

I would consider this data as lost and recommend to start from your last saved version of the scene.
