Maya 2018 crashed, save file is large but displays empty, any help?

I was attempting to save about 4 hours of work when Maya crashed and I seem to have lost all my work. I located a crash file (in the TEMP directory) but when I opened it the save was empty (although the file is 3 MB). I already attempted to edit out any "NaN" with text editor, that didn't help sadly.

Can I salvage anything?

Also I was working with Maya 2018 and the backup seems to be in Maya 2019 format?

I figured it out thanks to an older post from @mspeer , although I edited my corrupted save with notepad and used the "replace" tool to get rid of the "nan" entries I missed a "nan(ind)" entry because using "replace" got rid of ALL the "nan" including the "nan" in front of "nan(ind)" so I had left in a stray "0(ind)"

Beware anyone using the "replace" tool to mass replace "nan" errors. Just be safe and search manually for "IND".

Also I couldn't find how to delete this thread so if a moderator wants to delete this or mark it answered thanks.

Hi!

The trick is to replace first all "nan(ind)" and then all "nan".

You should be able to mark your own answer as solution.
