Maya 2018/2019 "move tool" not working properly and hotkeys often stop working

I have reinstalled both Maya 2018 and Maya 2019 several times with updates but every time get the same problem.

Sometimes it is just the “move tool” that is not working properly as it stops displaying “xyz” axes for selected object as it can be seen on the screenshot attached. A lot of times hotkeys stop working such as “F”, “P”, “E”, “W” and many others; "Alt"+"mouse moves" combinations which are supposed to be moving camera around stop working with "right Alt" a lot of times but might still be working with "left Alt". Sometimes restarting the laptop might solve the problem but it helps less than 50% of the times. Sometimes it gets fixed by itself along the way somehow but every time after some while the problem returns back.

I have a laptop ASUS S7BS with the following specs:

processor - Intel i7 - 8750h

graphic card - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB

ram – DDR4 32 GB

Could you please help me figure out what it can possibly be and how what I can try solve this issue?

Thank you for attention!

Hi @Anonymous

A quick test you can try is deleting your settings/preferences.

If that doesn't help this might be a GPU issue and you'll want to make sure your 1070 driver version is the same as our certified hardware list which is version 398.82.

You can find our certified hardware list here!

You can find a download for driver 398.82 here!

Hello! Right now I have the certified driver installed and still get the same bug. Going back to default settings does help with the problem as well as restarting the software multiple times, but it does feel bothering to be forced to go back and forth all the time. So I am still wondering if there is any solid solution to this problem to get the software run without this bug...
