Maya 2017 Frequent Crashes plus files crashing

Maya 2017 Running on Windows 10 on an i7 2.40Ghz processor, 32GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 675M

Maya crashes very frequently with files that worked fine before. A simple file with models works fine during a session, then whenever I open it later, maya crashes as soon as I click, after the scene loads.

I uninstalled then reinstalled maya and then added update 3 and it still has the same problem.

Even old files that I load, will crash frequently. I could use some help as this is making it impossible for me to work. I've attached an example of one of the files that crashes.

Hi!

No crash here (Maya 2017 update 3).

There are multiple default render layer, some unrecognized nodes, ... but no crash.

Please try a reset of your preferences.
Rename the folder prefs in folder 2017 to something like prefs_backup, or to reset everything, the folder 2017 to 2017_backup. Maya creates new folders. Detailed at:

Thanks for loading the file. I'm glad that worked. Unfortunately, even after renaming the prefs folder and restarting Maya, it is crashing for me. I happen to have MS Visual Studio installed, so it gave me the option of running the debugger. I have no idea, if this means anything, but I will paste what it says below:

Unhandled exception at 0x000000005C74ED94 (nvoglv64.dll) in maya.exe: Fatal program exit requested.

So, Maya is still unuseable on my end.

I ended up needing to reboot after renaming the preferences. Then it worked for me. Thanks!
