Maya 2017 cannot playblast in quicktime format?

Hi, I just got maya 2017 and working on windows 10. Apple has cancelled Quicktime support on windows so I am abit reluctant to install quicktime. But it still provides the best quality in the smallest filesize.

Does anyone have any idea how to work around this and still use get maya to playblast in .mov format?

Even when I've installed quicktime, the option for .H264 is no longer available for selection in the playblast option box.

You are not alone! 
Everyone in the studio is suffering from this. Especially during quick playplast test!

after installing, i was able to playblast in quicktime already

Does the MPC conflict with other players like KLite codec which uses MPC as well?  Would the K-Lite codec pack version of MPC need to be uninstalled to use the full version and the accompanying MPC?

I installed Quicktime 7... when I open a NEW maya window, it shows 'qt' in the format box for playblasting. When I open the file I'm working on, it only shows 'avi' and 'image'. 

Please help, because with Maya 2017, if it's not one thing, it's another.

I'm guessing you need to save your file, close that session of Maya and relaunch your scene in a fresh session of Maya.
