Maya 2016 Error: Errors while reading Scene

Hi, I'm a college student and have an issue when opening my scene in Maya 2016. I think it's probably related to switching between campus computers and my own computer but I'm not 100% sure. When I set my project and open it in 2016, I get this message "Errors have occurred while reading this scene that may result in data loss. Please check the Script Editor for details." So I opened up my Script Editor, and then saw Warnings such as "Unrecognized node type 'mentalrayItemsList" and "Unrecognized node type 'mentalrayGlobals".

Now I asked my friend and he told me it shouldn't be an issue since it's just seems to be mental ray related but I'm worried it may be serious. I've tried saving and opening my files as .ma and .mb but both have this message pop up. And while working on an old file it caused my Maya to crash multiples times. So I'm curious if there's a way to fix this issue or just any feedback as to whether this will cause issues to my project.
